📏 How to Size, Place & Press Your Hot Peel DTF Transfers Like a Pro

By Hur & Co. | Your Trusted DTF Partner

Avoid crooked designs, cracking prints, and wasted shirts! This step-by-step guide walks you through how to size your artwork, place your transfers perfectly, and press hot peel DTF like a pro. Includes bonus tips for powder residue, second pressing, and wash care!

🎨 1. Design Size Matters

Before you press, make sure your design is scaled to fit the garment properly.

General Sizing Guide:

  • Full Front: 10"–11" wide

  • Full Back: 11"–12" wide

  • Left Chest: 3.5"–4.5" wide

  • Youth Shirts: 8"–9" wide

  • Tote Bags: 8"–10" wide

  • Onesies: 4"–5" wide

💡 Tip: Always scale your artwork proportionally. Stretching the design can cause distortion or fuzzy printing.

📍 2. Placement Basics

Here’s a quick guide for how far down from the collar or seam your design should start:

  • Full Front: 2"–3" from neck seam

  • Full Back: 3" from collar

  • Left Chest: 4" from center, 3" from shoulder seam

  • Kids Shirts: 1.5"–2" from collar

Use a ruler, heat press guide, or T-shirt ruler for consistent results.

🧼 3. Prep Before Pressing

Get your garment ready before applying heat:

  • Pre-press the shirt for 5 seconds to remove moisture

  • Do not use fabric softeners or sprays

  • Make sure the surface is flat and wrinkle-free

🔥 4. Pressing Instructions for Hot Peel DTF

Once your design is ready and placed, follow these steps:

  • Temperature: 290°F–320°F (we recommend 305°F)

  • Time: 10–15 seconds

  • Pressure: Medium to firm

  • Peel: HOT — peel immediately and confidently

💡 If you see excess DTF powder or a slightly chalky look after peeling, just repress for 5–7 seconds without a Teflon or parchment sheet. This helps melt the powder into the fabric so it disappears.

Use parchment or Teflon only when needed for protecting your press from buildup.

💪 5. Optional Second Press

For a smoother feel and added durability:

  • Cover the design with parchment or Teflon

  • Press again for 5–7 seconds

  • Use medium pressure

🧺 Wash & Care Tips

To make your transfers last:

  • Wash inside out

  • Cold water only

  • Hang dry or tumble dry on low

  • No bleach or fabric softener
